Hartford’s Camp Courant, the oldest and largest free summer day camp in the country, is gearing up for its 132nd season. And Johnson Brunetti volunteers recently pitched in to help prepare the site for the campers’ arrival on June 29.

Throughout the day, JB team members rolled up their sleeves to perform several indoor and outdoor tasks. Starting with organizing supplies, our volunteers helped stack boxes and clean up the outdoor storage space.

Next, they visited the camp’s computer lab where they sorted donated toys and crafts into designated bins. With a cleared-out space, the campers will have plenty of room to learn and play all summer long.

The last item on the team’s to-do list was wiping down the outdoor tables and chairs under the pavilion. This will give the kids a clean place to gather for camp announcements and activities.

Since 1894, Hartford’s Camp Courant has provided a safe, exciting, and educational environment for over 500,000 campers. Every year, Hartford’s youth participate in active learning opportunities and fun activities at no cost to them or their families. These programs focus on positive youth development and healthy lifestyle choices.
