Podcast Episode 312: Dad Jokes and Financial Wisdom
To celebrate another Father’s Day weekend, we decided to work in some dad jokes into the podcast. Who doesn’t love those, right? So join us for a few laughs (we hope) and more importantly, some financial wisdom.
Below you’re going to find each of our dad jokes in bold with the punchline to follow. Then we’ll tie in the financial message that we can take from each of these.
Where does 007 invest his money? The bond market
So let’s talk a little about bonds. They’ve been in the news quite a bit in recent months and it’s usually the place people go for safety, right? That perception has changed for investors because they had their worst year in a long time. So make sure you understand how much risk you have in your plan because your money needs to last you in retirement.
What did the duck say after he went shopping? Put it on my bill.
This brings up the topic of credit and debt, which is a huge obstacle for people trying to save for retirement. When we talk about building a foundation for your financial house, you have to pay close attention to debt and how it’s being managed. If you have holes in your foundation in the form of debt payments and high interest rates, let’s plug those before we start building the rest of the house.
Why did the woman go outdoors with her purse open? Because she expected some change in the weather.
When we hear this one, it makes us think about someone who just goes outside and hopes something good is going to happen. That’s like not being active with your financial planning decisions and just hoping things take care of themselves. Don’t procrastinate with those important actions that you need to take care of now. Get your plan in place to address your needs so that you don’t have to be nervous in the future or just hopeful they’ll get solved for you.
Those are the three jokes we spend time on during this podcast but let’s share a couple more for fun.
Why are Irish bankers so successful? Because their capital is always Dublin.
And one more for good measure.
Did you hear that laughing too loudly is illegal in Hawaii? They only permit A-lo-ha.
The point we’re trying to make today is that we can have financial conversations without being miserable. We don’t want your experience to be unpleasant when you work with a financial advisor. So if that’s what’s been holding you up, reach out and let’s start your complimentary Money Map review.
Here are some of the things we discuss in this episode:
