Serving those who served | A holiday tradition for local veterans continues in Manchester
The Manchester Elks Lodge in Manchester, Connecticut hosts an annual Holiday Veterans Gathering to serve those who served our country. Veterans receive a warm turkey dinner and care packages to take home with them. The care packages consisted of warm clothing items – hats, coats, gloves, socks – and a $25 Stop & Shop gift card. The first Holiday Veterans Gathering was in 2016, but this is only the second year that it was also an outreach; Volunteers went to homes of veterans to hand-deliver their dinners and care packages.
