Wish Comes True for West Hartford Boy

A very special 6-year-old was the recipient of a new playscape along with other gifts with the help of Make-A-Wish Foundation and Johnson Brunetti.

First grader Lucas DiCesare spent the majority of his first year of life in the hospital, and it was unknown if we would ever be able to walk. Thankfully, he can, and has grown to love playing and is very active. He was gifted a backyard playscape as well as a puzzle and Polar Express train set. This way, he has fun activities to do no matter the weather.

Lucas’ new playscape was painted his favorite color – blue – and it even has matching mulch surrounding it. The DiCesare family talked about how difficult it was to make the move from Brooklyn, NY to West Hartford, CT during the pandemic; One of Lucas’ favorite things to do in Brooklyn was visit the playground. Now that they have a bigger space at home, it was important that they have something on the property that Lucas can get use of and invite neighborhood kids to play.

Eric Hogarth, CFP® had the honor to help present Lucas with his new gifts, alongside Make-A-Wish and Lucas’ parents. Lucas was eager to show Hogarth his new playscape and even invited him inside to meet the family cat and help set up his new train set. “We’ve, as a company, been involved with Make-A-Wish for a long time,” Hogarth said. “It’s an honor to be able to do it… I can’t think of a better thing to be able to do,” he said.
