12-year-old Rachel Webster was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer, in January 2022. According to the American Cancer Society, there are about 200 cases in children and teens in the country each year. Rachel underwent 10 months of chemotherapy and her left leg was amputated to stop the spreading. It has been a long road for Rachel and the Websters over the last two years.

“When I was being treated for bone cancer with Ewing’s sarcoma, I wondered if this would ever end,” Rachel said. “Will we ever go back to normal life? It was really horrible for a long time.”

Rachel has now been cancer-free for 20 months and has surveillance scans every three months because her cancer has a high risk of recurrence.

“It’s nice to get out and have the desire to do something that I probably never would have done with our own resources,” Rachel said. The Webster family had limousine service to JFK Airport and flew to Los Angeles before taking off to Hawaii. There, they enjoyed snorkeling and sunset cruise excursions, as well as some well-earned relaxation.
